Grass, Grain, and God’s Country

Welcome to the northern edge of the Flint Hills, where endless prairie meets fertile farmland, and nature itself seems designed for raising cattle of uncommon quality.

Our ranch is cradled where two of the richest agricultural zones on earth converge: the legendary grasslands of the Flint Hills and the abundant grain belt of the Midwest. This rare convergence offers both the nutrient-rich tallgrasses that echo the native pastures of Japan and a direct line to premium grains.

Beneath our fields, limestone enriches the soil, making the grass more than just abundant; it’s abundantly enriched with the minerals that build better beef.
Ancient, natural springs flow across the landscape, giving cattle pristine, mineral-rich water to drink, a critical ingredient in the marbling that defines true Wagyu.

It’s as good as it gets. And it’s here that Firegrass cattle are raised with the dignity of space, the richness of the land, and the purity of the water, a rare goodness evident in every bite.

This is God’s country, carved by time into the limestone. Where bison once roamed by the millions, Firegrass Wagyu now thrive.

Doing the Work That Outlasts Us

When you care for the land, the land gives back.

This is the covenant we live by at Firegrass. We’re not just raising Wagyu; we’re raising the prairie itself. Preserving it. Enriching it. Protecting something wild and beautiful so it can endure long after we’re gone. And so, we manage our pastures with fire, rest, and carefully timed grazing.
Each spring, fire walks the land. Not as destruction, but as renewal. Cleansing the soil, awakening native grasses, and making way for the fresh, nutrient-rich growth our cattle were born to graze. We let the land breathe and yield fresh plantings, allowing time for new life to take hold. And we rotate the animals and their roams so pastures can wholly recover, further ensuring healthy renewal and balance in the earth.
This is our conviction. A belief that good things grow when you work in harmony with nature. That the right way is worth the wait. That stewardship is sacred, and we are the stewards in every acre we touch, working not just for today, but for those generations yet to come.
